Hitachi Deskstar 7K1000.B - 1TB 3.5" SATA 7200 RPM 16MB - Internal Hard Drive - 0A38016 Review

Brand : Hitachi

I bought this Hitachi 1TB SATA drive does not replace my TIVO HD factories. I have this drive with the research, what kind of drives with third-party were in their "TiVo upgrade kits, which extend the recording hours with a larger device. I have this, and his cousin, used as one of the most popular drives rated (AV). I think that Amazon has been a special one because I purchased the drive and overnight shipping (+ $ 20) for about $ 100. The drive is now inContinuous use of TiVo (recording programs a dozen or so per day) for two weeks, it is fast enough for two HD shows while third HD recorded program (lots of disk I / O) with no dropouts due to bandwidth issues HDD.

Buy this drive as a replacement TiVo HD drive! Use the InstantCake software (hint: Google is your friend formatting) to work with TIVO. It is really a piece of cake!

2 Drives failed within 6 months - Steven Germain - Lakeside, AZ
I built a new home theater PC with 2 Samsung 1.5 TB drives and 2 Hitachi 1TB drives. Both Hitachi's have failed within the first 6 months is.

I do not know or care how good the customer support / warranty service is 2 TB of data is a lot to lose.

Windows 7 / Hitachi Deskstar - Richard E. Morrison - TN
I have put two new 1 TB Hitachi Deskstar in our home computer, the Windows-7 disc and that was it. Loading Windows 7 format and partition the disk and the program on the drives. I have installed many hard drives and many versions of Windows and you can believe me that this is the easiest installation I ever made. All though they were only for a month they have been installed very quickly and quietly. One of the drives that I replaced a Hitachi 500 GBDeskstar that I was with about a year and it has just as good as new. The only reason that I was replaced, because I wanted to do a clean install on both computers. I'm sold on the Internet Hitachi.

Hitachi's Service Stinks - PaleGreen1 - United States
Hitachi had my in-warranty RMA-ed drive for three weeks. Today I called to find out if the replacement comes to ships and their host said her office is (closed for training and maintenance!). Then the recording will be hung up. I could not even leave a message.

I have lots of RMA-ed drives with Seagate and Western Digital and their service was much better. This is my first experience with service and Hitachi, it's not a good one.

Hitachi 1000GB HD - Cal Romaneschi - Valparaiso, IN United States
